  • Home Visit

    Home lactation consultations offer the convenience and comfort of receiving expert breastfeeding support in the familiar surroundings of your own home. They provide personalized, one-on-one assistance from a certified lactation consultant, tailored to your individual needs and circumstances.

  • Office Visit

    Office location available for consultations. Receive expert breastfeeding support in a professional setting, with access to specialized equipment and resources that may not be available at home. Located in Carson City.

  • Virtual Visit

    HIPPA compliant virtual lactation consultation offers convenience and accessibility for mothers who may have difficulty accessing in-person lactation support. It allows mothers to receive expert breastfeeding guidance from the comfort of their own homes, while still benefiting from personalized, one-on-one support from a qualified lactation consultant.

  • Prenatal Education- 1.5 hrs

    Prenatal lactation consultations help expectant mothers feel more prepared and confident about breastfeeding before their baby arrives. The goal is to address concerns, provide education, and create a personalized breastfeeding plan. These consultations set the stage for a successful breastfeeding journey from the very beginning.

  • 1:1 Initial Visit- 1.5 hrs

    Initial visits are 90 minutes in length. This will allow time to gather a brief history, address any breastfeeding concerns or challenges you may be facing, and create an individualized plan to help you achieve your feeding goals.

  • 1:1 Follow Up- 1 hr

    Follow up visits are 60 minutes in length. The goal is to check in and see what has been working and what modifications need to be made to continue to support you on your journey.

  • Weight Checks- 30 mins

    Weight checks are 30 minute visits. The goal is to assess infants growth and modify your individualized feeding plan to keep you and baby on track.

Fees and Policies

  • The Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires all new insurance policies in both the individual and group markets, and including the state and federal health insurance Marketplaces, to provide coverage for certain preventive services, including comprehensive prenatal and postnatal lactation support, counseling, and equipment rental for the duration of breastfeeding, as recommended by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and to provide that coverage with no cost sharing by the individual insured. The requirement, referred to as §2713, became effective for all non-grandfathered health insurance plans or policies issued on or after August 1, 2012.

  • Sierra Nevada Lactation is partnered with The Lactation Network (TLN) for insurance billing. Clients with eligible network plans may receive lactation consultations with no out-of-pocket costs.

    TLN Eligibility

    If a client is not eligible for coverage through TLN then private self pay is required at time of consultation. Sierra Nevada Lactation will provide a super bill recipe after payment is received. The super bill can be submitted to the individual’s insurance company for potential reimbursement. Please refer to Self Pay Clients below.

  • Sierra Nevada Lactation is not currently partnered with any insurance companies outside of the TLN.

    All self pay clients are responsible for full payment at time of service. A credit card must be on file prior to consultation. Clients will receive a super bill coded under the lactating parent, which can be submitted to the individual’s insurance company for potential reimbursement. Sierra Nevada Lactation is unable to bill your insurance directly, and cannot guarantee that your insurance will reimburse you under the Affordable Care Act.

    Acceptable forms of payment include cash, credit card, and FSA/HSA.

  • Sierra Nevada Lactation offers 1:1 consultations in a variety of settings, including in home, office, and virtual.

    Prenatal Visit 90 mins- $150

    Initial Visit 90 mins- $200

    Follow-up Visit 60 mins - $150

    Weight Check Visit 30 mins- $60

    Virtual Prenatal Visit 90 mins- $125

    Virtual Initial Visit 90 mins - $150

    Virtual Follow-up Visit 60 mins - $100

    Virtual Weight Check 30 mins- $45

    Text & Email Support- 1 week complimentary support with each booking. *$25/week when sold separately

    Travel Fee= $1.00/mile when greater than 20 miles required travel

    *Travel fee not covered by TLN, self payments are due at time of consult.

  • Sierra Nevada Lactation requires minimum 24 hour notice of cancellation or request to reschedule.

    Cancellation fee of $50 will be charged to credit card on file when policy is not met.

  • First responder Discount= 20%

    Teacher Discount= 20%
